Slim and elegant, thin and understated - tennis bracelets are jewelry classics. But why are these stunning diamond bracelets named after the game of tennis?
It all started in 1987 during a match of the U.S. Open (which, by the way, is happening right now!). A jewelry malfunction during a match gave this beautiful bracelet its unusual name.
Tennis player, Chris Evert lost her bracelet when the clasp came open and fell off her wrist. She asked officials to postpone the match until her bracelet was found.
Viewers watched the televised search for the bracelet and all the publicity fueled desire for the elegant bracelets - from then on referred to as tennis bracelets!
Evert was not the first to wear a flexible band of diamonds around the wrist. In the 1920's, they were known as "eternity bracelets".
The design of the bracelet makes it ideal for women with active lifestyles, although we don't recommend wearing it while playing tennis! The design offers versatility - it can be worn casually everyday or, just as perfectly, for more elegant occasions.
