I've been a card carrying Sephora VIB member for 2 years (the Beauty insiders who spend $350), and this is the first year I've donned the VIB Rouge status (the shamelessly I-spent-$1000 club). What's the difference? The Rouge members get first dibs on the Spring and Fall sales, free shipping without having to spend $50 (this to me is the biggest perk), a private concierge that will help you with any beauty concerns, and invitations to exclusive events, such as the Fall 2017 Event.
The event was primarily centered around selling new products to Rouge members before they get officially released to the masses around the Fall. There were also mini makeovers you could get done, and consultations with the employees on a specific brand. They even provided snacks!
I RSVP'ed for the event at the Sephora in Arden Fair Mall. Usually, I sleep in until 10–11 am on Saturdays, but I was determined to wake up to make it in 8:30 am. Cecilio joked and said that the only way to get me to wake up was to go to an event and spend a ton on makeup.
I was overwhelmed when I first entered and didn't know where to start. I was not impressed with the products that were being released for the Fall, except for the Urban Decay Go Naked Perfume Oil Roller Ball, which smelled divine. Other items included the Too Faced Glitter Bomb Eyeshadow Palette (which I didn't particularly care too much for) and the Benefit 'Pink I love You!' Makeup Kit. I was scrolling through trendmood1 on Instagram (my go-to source for all of the new makeup releases) and found that Sephora was also releasing the Too Faced Hangover Setting Spray, Kat Von D Lolita blush/eyeshadow, BECCA lip glosses, Anastasia Beverly Hills blush palettes, BareMinerals lipsticks and the NARS Orgasm lipsticks. Though they weren't a part of the list of Fall releases, I was still hoping that the store would carry them. And I did, but they were behind the register, because I asked to get the Lolita eyeshadow/blush. Other beauty lovers on Instagram complained that almost all of the products sold out immediately at their local Sephora or didn't have what they wanted in stock, so I was fortunate to be able to get what I wanted.
I sat in one of the swivel chairs hoping to get a makeover, but I didn't realize that you had to sign up to be on the waiting list for one. So I asked about it to an employer, and she said she would have someone do a mini makeover for me soon (I was concerned about covering my dark circles). I waited at least 20 minutes while I saw the people right next to me get their makeovers.
Finally, a beautiful, sweet employee, Alisa, came up to me and told me that she was going to do my makeover. She a bright pink lipstick and an accent, and told me that she was from Australia. I told her my concerns about my dark circles, and that no matter what technique I do it doesn't seem to cover it completely. I told her that my Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is the only one that covers it the most, but it accentuates the fine lines (another concern I had). I wanted to be able to cover them without any lines showing. Alisa worked her magic and brought over the 2 BECCA products: The Under Eye Brightening Corrector and the Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme in "Honeycomb".
Alisa applied the brightening corrector first on my left eye with a brush, though she said it is better to use the ring finger to make it warmer (but for hygienic purposes, the brush was better). Then she dabbled the concealer on me, and set it with powder. She let me do my right eye myself, and that's what I did. I loved how it look, so I immediately went and bought it.
I told her that I already had the BECCA Backlight Colour Corrector (Peach), and I asked her what was the difference between that and the Under Eye Brightening Corrector. She said that she used to have the Backlight Colour Corrector too, but she swapped it out because she felt like it was too dark for her, and us with olive skin tones. I noticed it too with mine, because even with the heaviest coverage concealer it would still peak through. The Under Eye corrector, didn't! It reminded me of my NYX Dark Circle Concealer.
As for my haul, I bought...
BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector
BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme (Honeycomb)
I loved how fresh and citrusy this smelled, so I immediately bought it. It's supposed to bring you back to the beach, and hopefully Cecilio and I can make some beach trips during the summer! It fades pretty quick which is a bummer, but it is very portable and you can reapply every few hours or so.
Kat von D Lolita Eyeshadow/Blush
One of the most popular liquid lipsticks at Sephora converted into a powder liquid/blush form! I did buy the Lolita liquid lipstick but I didn't like how it looked on me so I returned it. I do have Lolita II though. But I was digging this burgundy blush though! You can use it as a blush or eyeshadow. It is a bit hard to blend, and it's one of those blushes that don't go well with contouring. It's sheer, but buildable which is good because it does seem intimidating on the pan but looks really pretty on the cheeks. And this is a bit too sheer for eyeshadow unless if you use a white or black base, or a MAC paint pot.
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick (Hibiscus)
I'm already in love with this lipstick. This rosy pink wine reminds me of my Revlon lipstick in "Berry Rich" or the Urban Decay Vice in "Manic". All 3 are similar in color (though the BB one is a bit deeper which is probably why I love it), but they are all moisturizing, comfortable and creamy. The BB lipstick lasts long too without eating, but I don't mind reapplying when a lipstick is that good!
Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal & Liquid Pigments
I actually didn't buy these, but the employees were handing out these 4 liquid lipsticks as samples. They are the new Smashbox liquid lipsticks, and they are actually really comfortable and not drying! I know, because I already have the shade Rose b4 Bros, one of the samples. The shades featured are Crimson Chrome, Haterade, Rose b4 Bros, and Mauve Wife.
KVD Lolita Eyeshadow/Blush, Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick (Hibiscus), BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector, BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme (Honeycomb)
Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal and Liquid Pigments: Mauve Wife, Rose b4 Brose, Haterade, Crimson Chrome.
Is there anything here that interests you? If you live in the US or Canada, have you been to the VIB Rouge Event?
